The yard lifecycle
A change to how yards stand and fall
From this update a yard cannot spend money it does not have. Bids at the sales, claims, private purchases, nominations to stallions and similar spending are refused if they would take your balance below nothing. Your running costs (training, wages, upkeep, entry and riding fees) are still paid as they fall due, so a yard can still go into the red.
A yard's finances are checked once a month. A yard that is in the red at three monthly checks in a row closes, and for your own yard that is the end of the game. A yard that is back above nothing at any check starts the count again.
Every player's count starts from nothing when this update arrives, so a yard in the red today has three monthly checks to trade its way back.
A game that ended because its yard was in the red reopens with this update, where it stood, with the same three monthly checks to trade its way back.
Rival yards no longer leave horses standing idle at minimal work. A yard short of cash sells its lesser horses at the sales and keeps the rest racing, and a yard that closes sends its horses to a dispersal sale. Your own training choices are unchanged.
